Hack for sky digital
I think Sky are in essence trying to steal this type of event from all the of the people in the country and offer it back to a smaller group of people within the country if they are prepared to pay. Think of moments like when we watched the best England performance for twenty years against the Dutch in 96 or when Lineker equalised against Germany in Italy.
I don't think Sky or any other broadcaster should own the right to that moment and the moment only exists at the time it's actually happening as that moment belongs to every English person. Would any of you have a problem with Sky having the exclusive rights to show an England Scotland whatever world cup final?
I certainly would! I've got no problem with Sky owning the right to broadcast films etc and things like the premiership because they take the risk to pay for them in the first place and do offer lots of choice that we never had before Sky came along.
But certain national sporting events which are supposed to unite and represent the country should not be exclusive to groups of people within that country. I'm sure Sky would try to take these events though if they weren't protected and it is this attitude of the company which pisses people off ie that anything is ok to buy as long as it can be broadcast for a proffit Intrested to hear what the people posting against the original post think on this specific point.
Especially those who seem to have a vested interest by virtue of the fact they sell Satallite equipment. PS: If I annoy anybody with spelling, punctuation or grammar mistakes, try not to worry about it. I'm capable of typing perfect English but this is a newsgroup used to exchange information. So as long as the information can be understood it's ok. Lets not start getting pompous on anyone's asses here. Corr, this takes me back!
I used to read this group and be into sat when the old Sky videocrypt hacks were doing the rounds series 7 and 9 etc Whatever happened to Brian Hammilton Kelly?
He'd always be ready to knock any mischief such as off topic posting back into line. I remember his short, but very detailed analysis of historical on, versus off, versus neither on nor off topic posting to the group. Facinating stuff it was too! Good this satellite stuff though init eh? Better than bloody reading a book. No,If your going to get sent down For once the government of the day spotted the problem before it happened.
Of course some of the Cat B events should be Cat A, how no golf or cricket became cat A when Major of all people was in charge is beyond me.
This is nothing to do with Sky. If the relevant sporting association decides to sell rights to the highest bidder, and is also willing to let that bidder have exclusive rights to broadcast on a subscription channel, then it the sporting association who has decided to deny the public free access, not the broadcaster.
Go complain to the even more greedy FA, etc. Not Sky loz. Well, being British too, and not having the slightest interest in sport in any way, I have the view that I don't see why my taxes or licence fee, whatever, should be used to pay the exorbitant amounts that footballers, etc demand, in order that you, a sports fan, can get this stuff free.
I don't care whether it's a British team representing Britain, whatever. They don't represent ME, thank you very much. You want to watch football, you pays the cost. If everyone refused to pay, then the silly amounts offered by Sky, etc, would come down drastically, and the gravy train would come to an abrupt halt. You sports fans have only got yourselves to blame. If you didn't queue up to pay Sky for football coverage in past years, then they wouldn't have bid so much for the rights, and national FTA TV would still carry the stuff.
I'm reminded of the silly women who used to moan "why doesn't the press leave Diana alone? With the possible exception of events such as the boat race and the London Marathon, most sporting events are privately owned, held on privately owned property. There's little wrong with your spelling, punctuation etc, but your sneering attitude to Usenet is questionable. A post has one writer but many readers therefore it is sensible, and good manners, to take a little pride and write to the best of ones ability and not forget that conventions in spelling and grammar etc have been evolved to aid communication and understanding.
Don't blame Sky for this - they're behaving like a commercial company set up to make a profit. Install the app. We recently sent Enable Ireland a wad of cash money see below. Happy Crissmuss. JavaScript is disabled.

Thread starter olliebtown Start date Jan 8, Did anyone hear anything about Sky Digital being hacked. This article was written to hopefully enlighten, we can not be held responsible for it's content or accuracy. They use a pirate card using the ATMEL 90S chip, every card is matched to its own box as the box has to be read connected to a pc so it wont work in other receivers. Ramone Hi. Actually, the "IOU" is stored on your smartcard, not the digibox.
Can't do this trick in first 12 month period though because it's part of your contract to keep the box connected to the phoneline. Hope this helps.
So if you copy the Smart Card b4 u buy the channels to your pc you have a have a card image which contains no purchase history. Then, once you have watched your 'free' program, you simply copy the image back on to the card, and voila there is no history of you watching that program.
The reason the cards contain this information and not the box is simple. You can test it very simply: Take your card round a friends house who also has sky. Do the 'free' channel thing with your viewing card in their box. Then, go home and plug your card into your box, and let the box dial sky, then wait for your bill. Whats going on? ITV were not so smart and bought a cracked encryption service not really encryted thats still military only Oh and Mac!!!!!. Fernsehman Guest. BskyB has a long arm and a big legal team. There's a lot at stake. You don't suppose that Rupert wants his company to go the way of ONdigital. Open for discussion, but please no inappropriate links. This way, if you did manage to crack the system, what would you do? It sounds logical, but im not sure if its true. Starburst Novice Member.
Until I personally see a smartcard with SKY codes being demonstrated in my personal digiboxes then it might as well be a rumour, no amount of website or forum gossip will convince me otherwise. NDS probably take the same stance, any hacking of Videoguard is significant but minor if it doesn't become public. The point is well made about what you could do with a successful hack Supposing I wrote a piece of software that could crack the encoding - however unlikely that is.
So what would I do with it? Give it away free on the internet?
